Dr. Dena McManis, PsyD, is a Licensed Educational Psychologist and Credentialed School Psychologist with over 25 years of experience in education and mental health. For the past 20 years, she has worked within the school system, specializing in psycho-educational assessments and counseling for students with learning and social-emotional challenges. In addition to her work in schools, Dr. McManis has operated a private practice for 15 years, conducting comprehensive evaluations to support children, adolescents and their families in understanding learning differences, social-emotional concerns, and behavioral needs.
She has played a key role in developing special education programs and has served as an expert witness in school psychology-related hearings. With extensive experience across multiple school districts and age groups, Dr. McManis brings a comprehensive and informed approach to evaluations, collaborating closely with teachers and parents to develop effective, research-based interventions that support student success.
Dr. McManis holds a Doctorate in Educational Psychology and master’s degrees in both School Psychology and Forensic Psychology, with advanced training in neuropsychology. Her background extends beyond schools, including work in behavioral therapy, case management, and crisis intervention for children and adolescents. She has also provided individual and group therapy for youth facing substance abuse issues, incarcerated youth, and families involved in the juvenile and family court system and she has worked with community behavioral health organizations.
As a Nationally Certified School Psychologist (NCSP), Dr. McManis is committed to ongoing professional development and maintains active memberships in the American Psychological Association (APA), National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), California Association of School Psychologists (CASP), and Psi Chi Honor Society.
Through her work in both schools and private practice, Dr. McManis is dedicated to providing comprehensive, high-quality psycho-educational and psychological evaluations that empower students, families, and educators with the insights and strategies needed for academic and personal success.
